Evan Williams Extra Aged Bourbon. Image courtesy Heaven Hill. This Bourbon gets an extra year of maturation compared to the regular black label version of Evan Williams, and the nose is aromatic with a good balance of sweetness and spice. Dark chocolate, caramel candy, and molasses complement the spicier notes of black pepper and ginger nicely, with a soft oakiness in the background. The taste is smooth at first with touches of caramel cola, cocoa, and vanilla – then the spices kick in with black pepper, ginger, and a hint of cinnamon, along with honey and oak notes in the background. The finish is long and nicely-balanced with lingering spices, honey, and oak. (December, 2016)
