2020’s first batch of Elijah Craig Barrel Proof is a whopper at 68.3% ABV, and the nose is aromatic with touches of cherry cola, allspice, pipe tobacco, and leather. The taste is intense and peppery with chili powder, black pepper, and allspice notes that fade to reveal cherries, pipe tobacco, and molasses. Adding some water opens up hints of tree fruits and oak tannins. The finish is long and spicy with a nice touch of oak. (March, 2020)
