Heaven Hill released its first batch of Elijah Craig 18 Single Barrel in three years during 2015, with just 15,000 bottles available.
The nose is oaky, warm, and aromatic with notes of dark chocolate, roasted almonds, honey, brown sugar, and hints of nutmeg and black pepper. The taste starts off spicy with a sharp bite of black pepper, but also shows some flintiness in the background that’s a bit unusual compared to previous versions. The pepperiness settles down to reveal caramel cola and brown sugar notes on the palate. The finish is mouth-watering with touches of dark chocolate, apple pie, and the same flintiness carries carries through from the palate. (November, 2015)
