Edradour Fairy Flag Single Malt. Photo ©2014 by Mark Gillespie. This 15-year-old whisky from Scotland’s smallest distillery was released in 2014, and inspired by a new movie about the Scottish legend of the “Fairy Flag” of Dunvegan Castle. It was matured for 8 years in ex-Bourbon casks, then transferred to Oloroso Sherry casks for another 7 years of maturation.

The nose is soft and creamy with notes of vanilla, caramel, dried fruits, raisins, and cooked plums. The taste is dry and fruity with a good spiciness that comes alive with ginger, nutmeg, cooked banana, coconut, red grapes, and a touch of raisins. The finish is long, tart, and slightly dry. Excellent! (October, 2014)
