Country: Scotland

Region: Islay

Type: Single Malt

Bottler: Duncan Taylor & Co.

ABV: 52.4%

Score: 93 Points

This 40-year-old Islay single malt was distilled just a few weeks before Port Ellen Distillery closed in 1983, yet retains much of its original strength at 52.4% ABV. The nose has touches of plums, raisins, heather, hints of smoke and pipe tobacco, and honey. The taste is thick and astringent with notes of figs, plums, raisins, a touch of allspice, cherries, and a kiss of smoke. The finish is long and dry with a lingering touch of black cherries and a whiff of smoke. Very nice! (April, 2024)
