This 19-year-old is the second annual release as part of the Dewar’s partnership with the U.S. Golf Association to be the official Scotch whisky of the U.S. Open. It’s matured in a combination of ex-Bourbon, Rye, and new American Oak casks, and the wood influence is clear all the way through. The nose has a nice combination of vanilla, wood spices, dried fruits, and a lot of maltiness. The balance between malty character and wood influence continues on the palate with wood spices, dried apricots, peaches, and hints of vanilla, fresh berries, and espresso. The finish is long with gentle wood spices and fruity notes that linger in the background along with a hint of espresso. Excellent! (April, 2022)
