Deanston 14 Spanish Oak. Image courtesy Deanston/Distell.This 14-year-old distillery-exclusive bottling is finished in Spanish Oak casks and bottled at cask strength. The nose has notes of candied fruit slices, Christmas cake, orange marmalade, and a hint of toffee. The taste is thick and fruity with good underlying spices including allspice and ginger root, along with a touch of Christmas cake. Toffee comes out as the spices begin to fade, and sticks around through the long finish as notes of dried fruits and jam on toasted bread develop slowly. Excellent! (January, 2019)
