Dad's Hat Pennsylvania Straight Rye. Photo ©2017, Mark Gillespie/CaskStrength Media. This is the first “straight” Rye whiskey from Dad’s Hat, and was matured in full-size casks for three and a half years. The nose is aromatic and spicy with rye bread, a hint of clove, molasses cookies, a touch of oak, vanilla, and dark chocolate notes with a good balance and complexity. The taste is good, spicy, and thick with clove, nutmeg, allspice, honey, caramel, and vanilla notes, and the finish is long with lingering spices. Very nice! (January, 2017)
