Dad’s Hat Pennsylvania Rye Vermouth Finish
Country: USA
Region: Pennsylvania
Type: Rye
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 47%
Score: 88 Points
Very few whiskies have been finished in Vermouth casks, and even fewer ryes. This is the exception, and well worth trying.
The nose is smooth and well-balanced with mild spiciness, fresh toasted rye bagels, allspice, dark chocolate, and graham crackers. The taste is smooth and thick at first with rye spiciness that builds slowly to a mild peak and lingers while the Vermouth influence comes in as an aromatic touch with a hint of anise. The finish is mellow, smooth, and lingers well. (August, 2013)
