Crown Royal Wine Barrel Finished Canadian Whisky. Image courtesy Diageo. This is the second release in Crown Royal’s annual series of Noble Collection bottlings, and was finished in Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon wine casks from California. The nose is warm and aromatic with notes of red grapes, a touch of plums, subtle spices, and a hint of red apples. The taste has a good balance of sweetness and spices with clove and allspice complemented by caramel candies, red grapes, vanilla, and butterscotch. The finish has a lingering hint of clove along with touches of raisins, anise, and butterscotch. (June, 2017)
