Compass Box Double Single
Country: Scotland
Region:
Type: Blended Scotch
Bottler: Compass Box Whisky Company
ABV: 46%
Score: 90 Points
This is the third release of Double Single, which pairs one single malt whisky up with one single grain whisky. In this case, it’s 72% Glen Elgin single malt from Speyside and 28% Girvan single grain – though Compass Box has not publicly disclosed the ages of the two whiskies (but will by email upon request). The nose is fruity with notes of vanilla cream, banana, and caramelized ginger. The taste is vibrant and fruity with banana, a hint of mango, vanilla cream, a hint of red apples, and dried flowers. The finish reveals subtle spicy touches of ginger and allspice, along with vanilla and red apples. Very nice! (June, 2017)
