Image courtesy Clonakilty Distillery.Ireland’s Clonakilty Distillery collaborated with 26º Brewing in Pompano Beach, Florida on this project, which used casks that held the brewery’s IPA1A beer to finish Clonakilty’s Irish whiskey. If you’re not familiar with Florida, A1A is the highway that runs the length of the Florida coast from the Georgia state line all the way to Key West.

The nose has a typical IPA citrusy character with lemon zest tartness, a nice maltiness, and hints of honey and black tea. The taste is tart, citrusy, and floral with lemon pepper, a hint of grapefruit, barley sugar, dried flowers, and vanilla. The finish is long, tart, and has a slightly grassy character. (July, 2020)
