Cleveland Underground Black Cherry Finish
Country: USA
Region:
Type: Bourbon
Bottler: Cleveland Whiskey
ABV: 47%
Score: 85 Points
This comes from the same stable as Cleveland Bourbon, but instead of using oak staves in his proprietary device designed to impart the characteristics of older whiskies to 6-month-old Bourbon, Tom Lix is using different types of woods that don’t make good finishing casks because of their porosity…in this case, Black Cherry.
The nose is light and floral with soft spices, cherry, a hint of ginger, vanilla, and honey. The taste is dry, spicy, and sweet with cinnamon, black cherry, honey, brown sugar, and a hint of orange peel. The finish is medium-length and dry with hints of linseed oil and licorice. Surprisingly drinkable and well-balanced. (April, 2016)
