Cedar Ridge “The QuintEssential”

Country: USA

Region: Iowa

Type: Single Malt

Bottler: Distiller

ABV: 46%

Score: 94 Points

This Iowa single malt gets its name from the Quint family, which founded Cedar Ridge more than two decades ago. It’s matured using a solera style of vatting in which half the whisky is removed from the vat for bottling, while new casks are emptied into the vat to mix with the older whisky. The nose is malty, dusty, and dry with heather, honey, and soft spices. The taste is thick and chewy with barley sugar, honey, apricots, peaches, and a gentle touch of baking spices. The finish is long with subtle spices. Excellent! (April, 2024)
