CaskStrength 3D
Country: Scotland
Region:
Type: Blended Malt
Bottler: CaskStrength Creative
ABV: 56.4%
Score: 88 Points
This unusual Blended Malt was created by CaskStrength Creative’s Neil Ridley and Joel Harrison with help from Diageo whisky blender Matthew Crow, and uses malts from Dailuane, Dalwhinnie, and Dufftown distilleries. That’s the basis for the 3D name, and the whisky is anything but one-dimensional.
The nose is fruity with pears, peaches, subtle nutmeg and vanilla, and hints of almonds and chocolate in a good balance. The taste is dry and spicy with white pepper, orange peel, a rich maltiness, and dried plums and black cherries. The finish has an oakiness that comes out with touches of honey, apples, and plums.
