Cask 88 Laphroaig 2001. Image courtesy Cask 88.This single cask Laphroaig was distilled in 2001, and later acquired by Cask 88 for its Scottish Folklore Series and finished in a Château Léoville Les Cases Bordeaux wine barrique. for the final two years. The nose is musty and earthy with a good peatiness followed by notes of blackberry jam and dried fruits. The taste has a good fruity tartness balanced by a rich peatiness and gentle spices with a touch of chocolate leading into the finish, which is long and smoky with hints of spice and chocolate. Very nice. (January, 2021)
