Canadian Club Aged 40 Years. Image courtesy Canadian Club/Beam Suntory. At the time of this review, this Canadian Club distilled in 1977 and bottled in 2017 is the oldest Canadian Whisky ever released to the public. It’s especially unusual because this is a 100% corn whisky that was matured in barrels previously used to mature rye whisky at the Hiram Walker Distillery in Ontario.

The nose is smooth and aromatic with notes of honey, vanilla, and hints of maple, molasses, and brown sugar. The taste starts off with a honey sweetness balanced well by spicier touches of clove and nutmeg, along with a hint of nuttiness and touches of vanilla and brown sugar in the background. The finish is long and well-balanced with a good mix of spices and sweetness. Excellent! (November, 2017)
