Bunnahabhain Trithead s'a Ceithur Islay single malt. Image courtesy Bunnahabhain. This 34-year-old Islay single malt gets its name from the Scots Gaelic word for “34” and was distilled in 1986, then matured in a refill Oloroso Sherry cask. The nose has notes of toffee, almonds, figs, and a nice maltiness. The taste has a good balance of sweetness and spice with touches of white pepper, toffee, and figs balanced by barley sugar and honey with just a hint of oak. The finish is long, complex, and well-balanced. Excellent! (June, 2021)
