Bunnahabhain 1997 Palo Cortado Cask Finish
Country: Scotland
Region: Islay
Type: Single Malt
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 54.9%
Score: 93 Points
This Islay single malt spent almost two full years in Palo Cortado Sherry casks at the end of its maturation, giving it a dark and complex nose with notes of plums, raisins, red grapes, blackberry cobbler, soft spices, brown sugar, and just a hint of oak. The taste is peaty and spicy with heather and a good ashiness, along with white pepper, toffee, and touches of plums and raisins. The finish is long with lingering spices, touches of plums and raisins, and a gentle kiss of smoke. Excellent! (October, 2018)
