Bruichladdich Octomore 11.1 Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky. Image courtesy Bruichladdich. This 2020 release is made with 100% Scottish barley peated to 139.6 parts per million of phenols, and matured for five years in 100% American Oak barrels. The nose has a good balance of peat smoke and garden soil, heather, honey, and hints of malt and brine in the background. The taste is predictably smoky with grilled citrus fruits, white pepper, a hint of dried flowers, brine, and a touch of anise that comes out late. The finish is long and smoky with anise, heather, and a hint of brine. (September, 2020)
