Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2010
Country: Scotland
Region: Islay
Type: Single Malt
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 50%
Score: 92 Points
The barley for this release was harvested from eight Islay family farms in 2009 and distilled in 2010, then matured in a combination of ex-Bourbon and French Oak wine casks. The nose is biscuity with shortbread cookies, a nice maltiness, honey, and vanilla notes. The taste is intense with good spicy notes of black pepper and allspice balanced nicely by barley sugar, honey, vanilla, and hints of dried fruits that come out as the spices fade. The finish is long with dried fruits and gently fading spices. (June, 2018)
