Bruichladdich 16 First Growth Series Cuvée “D”
Country: Scotland
Region: Islay
Type: Single Malt
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 46%
Score: 92 Points
This single malt was released in 2008 as one of six whiskies in Bruichladdich’s First Growth series, and was finished in Pessac Leognan casks from the legendary Chateâu Haut-Brion in Bordeaux after originally being matured in ex-Bourbon barrels. The nose is jammy with fresh berries, red grapes, and a hint of plums along with a nice maltiness and a slightly dusty character with a hint of flintiness. The taste is fruity with berry cobbler sweetness along with plums, raisins, subtle spices, and a hint of almond oil. The finish is long, subtle, and slightly floral with a lingering fruity sweetness.
