Producing WhiskyCast has given me the opportunity to taste some really amazing whiskies, and I’m pleased to share my tasting notes with you here. You can search my entire database of tasting notes from this page, and I hope you’ll find it useful.
Every once in a while, samples fall through the cracks and wind up in one of the drawers in my office/studio, and that’s what happened with this Brora 35-year-old from the 2012 Diageo Special Releases collection until a recent sorting session. Good thing it turned up, because I would have hated to miss out on this for much longer. The nose is aromatic with touches of caramel, butterscotch, and subtle spices along with hints of oak, straw, and dark chocolate. The taste is vibrant, fruity, and peppery with notes of butterscotch, apricots, honey, and a hint of dark chocolate. The finish…long and luscious! (May, 2021)
