Producing WhiskyCast has given me the opportunity to taste some really amazing whiskies, and I’m pleased to share my tasting notes with you here. You can search my entire database of tasting notes from this page, and I hope you’ll find it useful.
Like the original Brenne Estate Cask French single malt, this is matured first in new French Limousin Oak barrels, then finished in ex-Cognac casks originally used to mature the château’s own Cognac. The extra maturation and higher ABV adds more smoothness and complexity to the whisky, with a nose that is warm and inviting and has notes of honey, marzipan, toffee, cocoa beans, and hints of crystallized ginger. The taste has good balance with intense cinnamon and black pepper notes that complement melted chocolate, honey, brown sugar, and touches of dried apricots and raisins. The finish fades quickly, but leaves subtle touches of chocolate-covered raisins and honey. (March, 2016)
