Bowmore White Sands. Image courtesy Bowmore/Beam Suntory. This 17-year-old Islay single malt was matured in ex-Bourbon barrels, and the nose has a light peatiness with notes of vanilla, driftwood, smoked salmon, brine, and honey for a nice, complex aroma. The taste is thick and chewy with a good balance of peatiness and pepperiness. Hints of brine, smoked salmon, heather, honey, and ginger notes add complexity. The finish has a good balance of sea salt, honey, smoked salmon, and a touch of peat smoke. (November, 2018)
