Bowmore Vault Edition: Atlantic Sea Salt
Country: Scotland
Region: Islay
Type: Single Malt
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 51.5%
Score: 90 Points
This is the first in Bowmore’s Vault Edition series of single malts highlighting one of the unique elements that influences the flavor of Bowmore’s whiskies. As one might expect from the name, this one’s a bit on the briny side. The nose has a gentle smokiness with notes of briny wet sand, driftwood, and hints of honey and vanilla in the background. The taste is briny and tart with a good balance between the brininess and tropical touches of lemon zest, pineapple, and coconut. Honey, vanilla, and a soft smokiness in the background add balance and complexity. The finish is long, slightly dry, and briny with a touch of smoke. (January, 2017)
