Bowmore 18. Image courtesy Beam Suntory. This single malt has a subtle nose with honeycomb, grilled pineapple, dried flowers, butterscotch, and caramel candy notes, but doesn’t give its Islay heritage away until one tastes it. The palate is smoky and tart with peat, grilled pineapple, lemon zest, briny wet sand, vanilla, and a touch of chocolate. The finish is long, with citrusy tartness, hints of spice, and dried flowers gently fading away with a kiss of smoke. (January, 2017)
