Photo ©2019, Mark Gillespie/CaskStrength Media.Glen Esk Distillery closed in 1985, and while it had many names over the nearly nine decades of its history, this is one of the few bottlings still available. The refill ex-Sherry butt was filled on November 16, 1983 and emptied 28 years later in January of 2012 after 28 years.

The nose has notes of figs, toffee, molasses, raisins, caramel, and a hint of balsamic vinegar. The taste is vibrant and spicy with clove, black pepper, balsamic vinegar, toffee, raisins, and a subtle touch of oak tannins. The long finish has dark fruits and touches of spice and oak. Outstanding! (March, 2019)
