Bernheim Kentucky Straight Wheat Whiskey. Image courtesy Heaven Hill. This whiskey was featured on the very first episode of WhiskyCast in November, 2005…back then, it carried no age statement, but in 2014, Heaven Hill added a 7-year-old age statement to Bernheim bottles for the first time. The whiskey inside the bottle hasn’t changed, though.

The nose is grassy with notes of honey, nutmeg, ginger, brown sugar, and oak. The taste is slightly tart with lemon pepper, honey, a touch of black pepper, nutmeg, clove, and a thick, oily mouthfeel. The finish is long and tart with lemon pepper, a touch of honey, and ginger. (May, 2014)
