Benromach Sassicaia Finish
Country: Scotland
Region: Speyside
Type: Single Malt
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 45%
Score: 89 Points
This single malt takes Benromach single malt matured for just under eight years, then finishes it for 18 months in Sassicaia wine casks from Italy’s Bolgheri region in the heart of Tuscany.
The nose is warm with notes of fresh berries, red grapes, a soft oakiness, and hints of dates and plums. The taste is thick and fruity with a good balance of spices, sweet fruity notes, and a soft oakiness. The finish is long and rich with honey, fudge, and lingering spices. Very nice! (September, 2015)
