Barrell Dovetail. Image courtesy Barrell Craft Spirits. This blended whiskey from Barrell Craft Spirits has a unique pedigree. There’s 10-year-old whiskey from MGP in Indiana finished in Cabernet Sauvignon wine barrels, along with 11-year-old Tennessee Bourbon finished in a combination of Port pipes and Black Strap Rum casks. The result: a nose of candied fruits, butterscotch, toasted rye bread, honey, and a hint of linseed oil. The taste is mouth-coating and spicy with black pepper, clove, allspice, honey, dried fruits, and a hint of baking chocolate. The long finish has lingering spices and hints of fruit, chocolate, and toasted bread. Very complex and well-balanced! (March, 2019)
