Balcones Peated Texas Single Malt 2019 Edition
Country: USA
Region: Texas
Type: Single Malt
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 65.2%
Score: 91 Points
This Texas single malt has its roots in Scotland, where the peated Golden Promise barley was malted before it was shipped to the distillery in Waco. After just three years of maturation, the color is dark and rich, while the nose has notes of lightly smoked barbecued beef, hazelnut, honeycomb, honey, and berry cobbler. The taste has oak tannins and smoke to go along with baking spices and touches of grilled peaches, brown sugar, and toasted caramel. The finish is long and slightly astringent with lingering spices, oak tannins, and a hint of smoke. (December, 2019)
