Balblair 2005 Vintage. Image courtesy Balblair. This is the first release of Balblair’s 2005 vintage, and was bottled in 2015 at 46% ABV after maturing in ex-Bourbon barrels. The nose has notes of green apples, honey, vanilla, orange peel, dried flowers, subtle spices, and a touch of charred oak. The taste is complex, fruity, and sweet with notes of grapefruit, orange peel, mango, a subtle touch of cinnamon, toffee, honey, and vanilla. The finish is very long with a nice balance of spices and citrus tartness, and a hint of honey pulls it all together. Excellent! (March, 2017)
