Balblair 1990 Vintage (Second Release)
Country: Scotland
Region: Highlands
Type: Single Malt
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 46%
Score: 95 Points
The second release of Highland single malt was distilled in 1990 and matured until 2015 in a combination of ex-Bourbon and Spanish Oak ex-Sherry barrels. The nose is well-rounded and aromatic with notes of toffee, raisins, and figs that match up well with honey, vanilla, and a hint of orange marmalade. The taste is thick, sweet, and spicy with fruity notes of mango, cooked banana, and orange marmalade balanced by touches of cloves, raisins, and honey. The finish lasts and lasts with the whisky’s full flavor gently fading away. Outstanding! (March, 2017)
