Bainbridge Yama Mizunara Cask
Country: USA
Region: Washington
Type: Single Grain
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 45%
Score: 91 Points
This single grain whisky from Washington’s Bainbridge Organic Distillers is the first of its kind: an American whisky matured in Japanese Mizunara Oak casks. While labeled as a single grain officially, it is made with organic barley grown in the Skagit Valley north of Seattle.
The nose is warm with notes of hot fudge, toffee, caramel, honey, and a hint of ginger. The taste has notes of caramel cola, black cherries, a touch of clove, cinnamon, and notes of honey and vanilla in the background. The finish is long with lingering spices and a hint of oak. Very nice! (February, 2016)
