Arran James MacTaggart Anniversary Single Malt
Country: Scotland
Region: Highlands
Type: Single Malt
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 54.2%
Score: 93 Points
This whisky honors Arran distillery manager James MacTaggart’s 10th anniversary with some of the first-fill ex-Bourbon casks filled under his stewardship in 2007. The nose has notes of honey, vanilla, a hint of lemon custard, brown sugar, and fresh peaches. The taste is mouth-filling and slightly astringent at first, then subtle notes of ginger, allspice, and cinnamon take over with lemon custard, peaches, and vanilla underneath. The finish is very long and slightly dry with subtle spices that last and last. Excellent! (October, 2017)
