Ardbeg Traigh Bhan 5th Edition

Ardbeg Traigh Bhan Batch #5. Image courtesy Ardbeg.

Country: Scotland

Region: Islay

Type: Single Malt

Bottler: Distiller

ABV: 46.2%

Score: 94 Points

This 19-year-old Ardbeg was created by whisky maker Gillian McDonald from a batch of American Oak and ex-Oloroso Sherry casks, and is slightly different from the first four annual releases in the Traigh Bhan series. The nose has touches of honey, toffee, eucalyptus, citrus, and a slightly herbal character with a hint of brine. The taste has a gentle peat smokiness in the background underlying notes of grilled citrus, pineapple, mango, and a hint of black pepper. The peatiness takes over on the finish with a touch of ashiness and a hint of grilled citrus. (September, 2023)
