Ardbeg Grooves Committee Release

Country: Scotland

Region: Islay

Type: Single Malt

Bottler: Distiller

ABV: 51.6%

Score: 93 Points

Ardbeg Grooves Committee Edition. Image courtesy Ardbeg. This is the higher-proof version of Grooves bottled for members of the Ardbeg Committee, though also available at selected U.S. retailers. It carries no age statement, and was matured in heavily charred casks that allowed more whisky to soak into the wood through the cracks and grooves created by charring. The nose has notes of black tea with lemon and honey, a subtle peat smokiness, a hint of heather, and brown sugar. The taste has the classic Ardbeg smokiness that comes alive with peatiness and a slightly medicinal touch, along with cinnamon and clove spices, dark chocolate, honey, vanilla, and heather. The finish is long and smoky with gently fading spices. Excellent! (March, 2018)
