Ardbeg Ardcore Committee Edition

Country: Scotland

Region: Islay

Type: Single Malt

Bottler: Distiller

ABV: 50.1%

Score: 93 Points

Ardbeg’s annual limited edition release for 2022 has a punk vibe on the label, but the whisky inside the bottle is classic old-school Ardbeg. The Committee Edition is bottled at 50.1% ABV, while the standard version to be released in June will be bottled at 46% ABV. The nose is smoky and phenolic with hints of heather, coffee beans, creosote, and molasses. The taste is just as smoky with a burst of spices at first, followed by notes of dark chocolate, coffee bans, toffee, and a hint of lime that give it a nice complexity. The finish is long and well-balanced between smoke, soot, and sweetness. (May, 2022)
