Country: Scotland

Region: Islay

Type: Single Malt

Bottler: Distiller

ABV: 40%

Score: 93 Points

20 years after the original Ardbeg 17 was retired, it has been brought back to life in a faithful recreation of the original – right down to the 40% ABV bottling strength and light chill-filtering which has caused some controversy among Ardbeg lovers. The nose has touches of lemon zest, peat smoke, heather, honey, and a hint of smoked salmon. The taste has a slow onset of black pepper and peat smoke with hints of lemon zest and smoked salmon in the background. The finish is long and smoky. Very nice! (October, 2024)
