Amrut Single Grain Indian Whisky. Photo ©2020, Mark Gillespie/CaskStrength Media. This is an unusual whisky, distilled from grain at another Indian distillery in 2012 and acquired by Amrut, which put it into an ex-Bourbon barrel and matured it for seven and a half years before bottling it exclusively for the U.S. market. The nose has notes of honey, buttered popcorn, sawdust, a hint of vanilla, and touches of allspice and butterscotch. The taste is spicy with black pepper and allspice complemented nicely by honey, vanilla, butterscotch, and a hint of citrus. The finish is long with subtle spices and a mouthwatering hint of tropical fruits. Very nice! (May, 2020)
