This is the first Amrut single cask bottled exclusively for the U.S. market, and is even more unusual because it’s a peated single malt matured in a Port wine pipe. The cask was filled in May of 2013 and bottled in October of 2017, but tastes like a far older whisky.
The nose has notes of campfire smoke, plums, berry cobbler, and molasses. The taste is intense and mouth-coating with a subtle smokiness balanced by clove, chili powder, molasses, berry cobbler, and plums. The finish is long, but subtle and mouthwatering with a kiss of smoke, molasses, and gentle spices. Excellent! (March, 2018)
