Country: India

Region:

Type: Single Malt

Bottler: Amrut Distilleries Ltd.

ABV: 46%

Score: 88 Points

This is billed as the first independent bottling of an Indian single malt whisky. Amrut sourced the peated whisky from an undisclosed coastal distillery and finished the maturation at its warehouses in Bangalore. The nose is smoky and pungent with touches of tar and creosote, honey, vanilla, and a hint of dark chocolate. The taste starts off light and fruity, then the peatiness comes alive slowly and builds to a nice peak with touches of lemon zest, honey, and chocolate in the background. The finish is long and smoky.
