Amrut’s single cask bottlings for the USA carry the Aatma name, and this whisky comes from peated Indian barley matured in an ex-Bourbon cask for 6 years and 11 months. The nose has touches of roasted corn, campfire smoke, toasted caramel, honey, subtle spices, and a hint of vanilla. The taste has spicy notes of black pepper and cinnamon along with toasted caramel, honey, and touches of vanilla and dark chocolate that come out with time. A few drops of water opens up touches of tree fruits and campfire smoke. The finish is long and spicy with a touch of smoke. Excellent! (August, 2021)
