Aerstone Sea Cask. Image courtesy William Grant & Sons. This 10-year-old single malt from the Ailsa Bay Distillery uses one of the distillery’s four main malt whisky types, in this case a Speyside-style malt that William Grant & Sons describes on the Sea Cask label as “smooth and easy.” The nose is fruity and floral with hints of oak, honeycomb, and a nice touch of sea salted caramel. The taste is fruity and vibrant with citrus notes that dominate the palate, while salted caramel, honey, and subtle touches of allspice and crystallized ginger come out as the citrus notes fade. The finish is medium-length, light, and crisp. (November, 2o18)
