Aberlour A'Bunadh Batch #54. Image courtesy Chivas Brothers. As always, this Speyside classic is matured in Oloroso Sherry barrels and bottled at cask strength. The nose is rich and fruity with plums, raisins, muted spices, and touches of oak, honey, vanilla, and licorice. The taste is fruity and almost astringent with plums, licorice, raisins, and a healthy bit of Christmas cake. The finish is nice and long with lingering spicy notes of clove, allspice, and ginger root along with a touch of baked apples. Excellent! (October, 2016)
