Aberlour A’Bunadh (Batch 45)
Country: Scotland
Region: Speyside
Type: Single Malt
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 60.2%
Score: 93 Points
This edition won a Supreme Award for Daily Drams (priced at $67 USD or less) in the 2013 Malt Maniacs Awards.
As with almost all of the A’Bunadh releases, the nose is dry and sweet with oak and cinnamon, just a whiff of smoke, licorice and raisin notes. The taste is thick, oily, and powerful with licorice, caramel candy, and a blast of chili powder that fades to reveal plum, raisin, and fig notes underneath in a complex, yet well-balanced palate. The finish is long and dry with notes of plums, raisins, licorice, and dark chocolate. Outstanding! (December, 2013)
