Aberfeldy Exceptional Casks 19. Image courtesy Aberfeldy/John Dewar & Sons. This single-cask release comes from an ex-Oloroso Sherry butt, and the nose is full of figs, dates, toffee, caramel, brown sugar, marzipan, and a soft touch of oak tannins. The taste is intense with a good balance of baking spices, toffee, figs, and dates. The spices fade slowly to reveal hints of marzipan and honey. Adding some water brings out fruity notes of peaches, red apples, and sultanas. The finish is very long and fades away slowly with good lingering spices and touches of toffee and Christmas cake. Excellent! (October, 2019)
