A. Overholt Rye

Country: USA

Region: Kentucky

Type: Rye Whiskey

Bottler: Distiller

ABV: 47.5%

Score: 91 Points

This Monongahela-style rye is distilled in Kentucky, not in Pennsylvania as the original Overholt whiskies were. Don’t hold that against it, though. The nose has a good balance of rye spices, honey, vanilla, and dried fruits. The taste has a slow buildup of cinnamon, clove, and allspice notes, with touches of red apples and peaches adding complexity and balance. The finish is long and spicy. (May, 2024)
