Glenmorangie Signet

Country: Scotland

Region: Highlands

Type: Single Malt

Bottler: Distiller

ABV: 46%

Score: 94 Points

No age statement on this one, since it contains some of Dr. Bill Lumsden’s secret whiskies from the Glenmorangie warehouses, including some well over 30 years old! There’s a strong sherry influence on the nose, along with vintage leather and strong espresso and just a hint of eucalyptus, mint, and orange peel underneath. Neat, it’s an intense, peppery dram with an entire spice rack of flavors from cinnamon to nutmeg and hazelnut…and the classic Glenmorangie citrus notes underneath add a tingly, chewy mouthfeel. A touch of water opens up the dram to reveal dark chocolate and cocoa powder, with lingering hints of orange and vanilla that lead to a finish that reminds me of Grandma’s peach pie.
